Are you following the Traditions of men?

Today's governments are no more than reanimated, re-scripted plays of failed government systems from over the centuries. The same is true for many of today's modern religions.  If you look at the bible what does it tell us about the traditions of men? In Colossians 2:8 (KJV) “8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”  

The bible plainly warns us about following philosophies and the traditions of men. Yet religions since the time of Jesus have become more about the philosophies of the day and less about the teachings of Jesus.

Let look at an example.....Christmas! What does the bible teach us about celebrating the birth of Jesus? Nothing!! In fact there is nothing in any of the books of the New Testament to indicate any commandment to do so. Am I saying the Christmas story is not true? Yes I am! But, I am also saying  the birth is true Jesus is true. Confused? Good, now we can start at the beginning.

What the scriptures really say about the birth of Jesus in nothing like today's modern narratives. There was no Mary and Joseph traveling in a snow storm on their way  to Bethlehem nor was there strange nobles from the East showing up the same night as Jesus's birth. In fact what we depict to have happened all in one night actually took place over many months. The only one's to arrive shortly after the birth were the shepherds who were told of the birth by the angel. Oddly enough, shepherds are not normally found in the fields at night on December 25th. When most people think about Bethlehem, they overlook the fact they have seasons there just as other parts of the world do.
